A Place for Every Child

Children are very important to God.

The significance here goes beyond just showing how much Jesus loves and cares for children, for Jesus then said that “whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it” (Mark 10:15). So not only are children just as much members of God’s kingdom as adults, we as adults need to learn from them if we are to come to the fullness of God’s kingdom.

This understanding is at the core of children’s ministry at Resurrection Anglican Church. As we interact with children in the church services and in our children’s ministry classes, we remember that the same Holy Spirit guides all of us as God’s children. We all need each other and are growing together as the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13-21; Ephesians 4:11-16).

“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

Mark 10:14

FAQs

On a normal children’s ministry Sunday, children four years old and under begin in the nursery for a time of play and stories and parents pick them up at the passing of the peace. Children in Kindergarten through 6th grade will be in the sanctuary through the opening songs, then will be invited forward for a prayer of blessing before going to their classes. Their children’s ministry time involves biblical teaching, activities that creatively engage them with the teaching, and a snack. They then return to the sanctuary during the passing of the peace.

Of course! We see children as full members of our church family and they are always welcome in the sanctuary, though we hope they will take advantage of the classes that offer spiritual formation tailored to them.

In addition to our Sunday children’s ministry, we have periodic youth activities for our 7th-12th graders, a Saturday Kids Listening Prayer activity for 1st-5th graders scheduled most months during the school year, Lenten children's ministry during soup suppers, and summer park meetups that are open to anyone. You can find current offerings posted on our events page.

Resurrection Anglican is committed to the safety of your children. We partner with Church of the Cross (Hopkins) to create protocols and offer training for all adults involved in children's ministry.
